BitterSweet Blue became reality towards the end of 2006 but had been ‘growing patiently, the thought just out of reach’ for much longer. As a concept I hoped to increase enthusiasm for new ideas and gifts; to try and move away from everyday items that although easy to find, were nothing out of the ordinary, and finally after many productive (& some not so productive) months, BitterSweet Blue was born.
I have always been totally captivated by the sea, not only for its raw beauty and sheer energy but for the calmness it provokes on sometimes the roughest of days, somehow it always manages to ground me and whenever I leave it, I am always the better for it.
To that end I wanted to find gifts whose link to it, however tenuous and fragile they may be, were part of nature and would compliment one another other by nothing more than invisible threads.
Some artists have an incredible talent that allows them to empathise completely with their subjects and as such achieve works that are far beyond even their highest expectations. In searching for those that are not afraid to follow their own path I hope to have found gifts for everyone to enjoy and that will have not only a lasting place in your home, but also your heart.
